Instead of staring at a sheet of paper or a screen, give yourself a writing goal to solve, a problem to solve, or one of these strategies to get started. Or start with a question, then solve it.
I had never heard of that until today, but I checked the website https://www.nycmidnight.com/and discovered it began in 2002. I started using Flash Fiction with students in the 90’s, and when Literary Arts started its Writers In The Schools program in Portland. Our school, Benson Polytechnic, had a number of writers every year who shared all these strategies and assignments. In that I didn’t always get a writer, I had the good sense to write them all down! Fash Fiction is so teachable. Very cool! Thanks for the backstory!
